Avondale School District Calendar 2026-2027

Avondale School District is a relatively small Oakland County system with one conventional neighborhood sequence and several district-run branches. Most students move from one of four elementary schools to Avondale Middle School and Avondale High School. GATE Magnet School follows a different model: it provides an accelerated, personalized setting for gifted students across grades 2–8, with admission rules separate from ordinary neighborhood assignment.

Avondale High remains the comprehensive secondary hub. Students can combine its regular program with accelerated coursework, dual enrollment, Early College, career exploration, and an on-campus career-technical center. The Diploma & Careers Institute serves older teens and young adults through a tuition-free, fully online diploma program with self-paced study, academic coaching, and a schedule outside the daily comprehensive-high-school timetable.

The district also maintains a K–12 virtual campus and an adult-transition program for eligible residents ages 18–26 with developmental or cognitive disabilities. The latter builds vocational, social, and independent-living skills while helping participants use community resources. GATE, DCI, Early College, the Virtual Campus, and Adult Transition serve different ages, learning rhythms, and outcomes. Avondale therefore operates an unusually varied set of educational formats for a district of modest size, and families need to review each program’s purpose and eligibility separately.
