Alpena Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Alpena Public Schools serves as the principal public-school system for a wide area of northeastern Michigan. Six K–5 elementary schools keep younger students connected to distinct communities, while Thunder Bay Junior High School and Alpena High School bring the district together for grades 6–12. ACES Academy extends that sequence with personalized and online learning support across elementary, junior-high, and high-school levels, including a flexible route for students whose needs do not fit the conventional secondary timetable.

That regional role is especially visible in career and college preparation. Alpena High students can explore technical fields through career and technical education, while Alpena Early College extends high school into a planned grades 11–13 sequence. Students in the early-college route work toward a diploma and substantial college progress, creating a bridge between the district and local postsecondary institutions.

The student experience changes noticeably across the system. Elementary school can feel small and community-based; junior high becomes the main districtwide meeting point; Alpena High and ACES then provide different ways to organize advanced, technical, online, and completion-focused study.
