Niles Community Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Niles Community Schools combines neighborhood schools with several continuous and specialized routes. Ballard and Howard-Ellis serve K–5 neighborhood communities, Eastside Connections keeps grades K–8 on one campus, Ring Lardner serves grades 6–8, and Niles High School is the principal comprehensive high school. Northside combines early-childhood services with full-day kindergarten, Montessori, special-education, and GSRP offerings, so placement depends on the specific program.

At the Niles High campus, Niles New Tech serves grades 9–10 as a separately identified program within the broader high-school setting. Its program guidance and continuation rules should be considered separately from ordinary neighborhood assignment.

The district's flexible completion routes include Niles Cedar Lane for grades 9–12, WAY/WAY Forward for grades 6–12, and the K–12 Niles Virtual School. These programs differ in campus use, project-based learning, online delivery, and the amount of daily structure they provide. Adult Education adds a separate route for learners returning to diploma work.

Southside School serves students in grades 6–12 who require intensive academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional support. Its transition program also serves young adults ages 18–26 through vocational, independent-living, employment, and community instruction. Southside placement follows a specialized support process, making it distinct from the district's ordinary choice and completion programs.
