Flint Community Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Flint Community Schools operates as a citywide portfolio rather than a single feeder pattern repeated across every neighborhood. Community elementary schools provide local access, while Brownell STEM Academy and Holmes STEM Middle School Academy form a named STEM sequence. Early-childhood services and other specialized campuses add routes whose enrollment procedures may differ from ordinary neighborhood assignment.

Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary School houses Flint's public Montessori elementary program. Its multi-age, hands-on model gives families an instructional option distinct from both the neighborhood schools and the STEM academies. At the secondary level, Southwestern Classical Academy is the district's principal comprehensive campus, bringing a wide range of academic, career, artistic, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities into one citywide setting.

Accelerated Learning Academy serves students who need a smaller or more flexible high-school environment to continue toward graduation. Its purpose differs from Southwestern's comprehensive program and from the specialty models used earlier in the grade span. A Flint student may therefore move through several kinds of public-school structure: neighborhood assignment, a specialty instructional program, a comprehensive secondary campus, or an alternative completion setting.

Families need to examine location and program type separately. A nearby school may establish the ordinary starting point, while STEM, Montessori, alternative education, and other specialized routes depend on current placement, application, or referral procedures.
