Ferndale Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Ferndale Public Schools organizes the early grades through districtwide grade centers. Ferndale Lower Elementary serves the youngest elementary students, Ferndale Upper Elementary carries the later elementary years, and Ferndale Middle School brings students together for grades 6–8. The upper-elementary campus also houses a Montessori option, giving some families a different instructional model within the same public system.

High school is where Ferndale’s structure branches most clearly. Ferndale High School is the comprehensive campus, with the district’s broadest academic, arts, athletic, and career program. University High School offers a smaller, personalized environment with a college-preparatory focus. Tri-County Educational Center serves students and adults who need an alternative completion route, flexible scheduling, credit recovery, or another way to return to diploma work.

The district also supports virtual study and early-college participation. University High’s virtual program changes where and how coursework is completed, while early-college options at Ferndale High and University High can extend the secondary plan into substantial college study. These are separate mechanisms: a smaller campus, an alternative completion center, online delivery, and early college address different needs.

Ferndale keeps the K–8 progression unified, then opens several high-school and completion environments. Families can follow the ordinary grade-center route and still face meaningful later decisions about campus scale, instructional format, college acceleration, or the level of scheduling support a student requires.
