East Lansing Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

East Lansing Public Schools brings six elementary communities into one shared secondary route at MacDonald Middle School and East Lansing High School. That convergence matters in a highly international and culturally diverse university community with close ties to Michigan State University. Students do not separate into competing district high schools; the common secondary campuses become meeting places for the city’s varied neighborhoods and backgrounds.

The university connection is most concrete when it changes an actual high-school schedule. Eligible East Lansing High students can pursue dual enrollment through Michigan State University or Lansing Community College. Michigan Virtual courses, testing-out procedures, and personal-curriculum planning create additional ways to adjust pace or content while the student remains attached to the comprehensive high school.
