Cedar Springs Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Cedar Springs Public Schools serves a broad area north of Grand Rapids through a cohesive grade-center model. Most schools are located on or near a central campus, and students move through buildings organized primarily by age: Cedar Trails serves grades K–1, Beach serves grades 2–3, Cedar View serves grades 4–5, and the middle and high schools complete the sequence.

Because students across the district share the same grade centers, cohorts come together early and remain together as they advance. Families do not repeatedly navigate competing feeder patterns or wonder which middle school follows a particular elementary address. The tradeoff is that many students travel to the central campus from a district covering the city and parts of several townships, so transportation and campus schedules become an important part of daily life.

The concentrated campus allows Cedar Springs to share staff, facilities, activities, and transition supports across grade levels. At the high-school stage, Cedar Springs High is also home to New Beginnings, an alternative education program for students recommended by administrators and counselors who need a nontraditional format to complete Michigan Merit Core curriculum requirements. Preschool, childcare, virtual or hybrid learning, and services that can complement home education add further flexibility without changing the district’s basic cohort-centered structure.

Cedar Springs functions as one K–12 educational community divided into age-specific buildings. New Beginnings preserves that common geography while giving some high-school students a different way to finish within the same district environment.
