Rockford Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Rockford Public Schools uses a dedicated ninth-grade transition before the upper high-school years. Students enter Rockford Freshman Center for grade 9 and then move to Rockford High School for grades 10–12. The separate freshman campus gives one age group its own relationships, counseling, and foundation before joining the larger high school.

River Valley Academy provides a separate alternative high-school environment. It serves students who need a different campus scale or completion structure while remaining within Rockford Public Schools. Rockford Adult Education extends completion services to adults and returning learners.

Rockford Virtual is a grades 9–12 online public school. Students earn a Rockford diploma through virtual classes and remain eligible for co-curricular activities at their home building. This creates a full online route without completely severing ties to the district's physical-school community.

Rockford's high-school portfolio is organized by both age and format: a universal freshman transition, an upper-grade comprehensive school, an alternative campus, an online high school, and adult education. The route a student uses changes the daily setting, but all remain part of one district system.
