Kentwood Public Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Kentwood Public Schools brings a large and diverse elementary population into three middle schools—Crestwood, Pinewood, and Valleywood—before every comprehensive-path student enters the East Kentwood Freshman Campus. Ninth grade is housed separately from East Kentwood High School, which serves grades 10–12. This arrangement creates a common transition year between several middle-school communities and one very large upper-grade campus.

The Freshman Campus is more than an overflow building. It gives ninth-graders a dedicated environment for high-school foundations, relationships, course planning, and the increased responsibility of secondary study. Students then move as one cohort to East Kentwood High, where the district can support extensive academic, career, arts, athletic, language, and extracurricular options.

Crossroads Alternative High School provides a smaller and more individualized completion setting for students whose needs are not met by the comprehensive timetable. Kentwood International Virtual Academy offers an online middle- and high-school route, with admissions based on program fit and the student’s ability to succeed in a virtual environment. KIVA can serve different enrollment relationships, including some students beyond the ordinary district pathway.

Kentwood’s secondary structure has three layers: separate middle-school communities, a universal ninth-grade transition campus, and a shared grades 10–12 high school. Crossroads and KIVA preserve two additional routes for alternative in-person completion and online learning, each with distinct placement and participation rules.
