Dexter Community Schools Calendar 2026-2027

Dexter Community Schools serves the City of Dexter and portions of surrounding townships through a concentrated local sequence. Younger students move through district elementary and intermediate buildings before entering Mill Creek Middle School for grades 7–8 and Dexter High School for grades 9–12. The system preserves a small-town community identity while using college, consortium, alternative, and online programs to expand what happens beyond the ordinary building sequence.

Dexter High offers several routes beyond a standard college-preparatory schedule. Students can pursue International Baccalaureate coursework, dual enrollment, and the Dexter Early Middle College. The early-middle-college pathway extends the high-school plan so participants can work toward an associate degree, substantial college credit, or a professional certificate through Washtenaw Community College.

Dexter Alternative School provides an invitation-based, small-group high-school environment with personalized curriculum, close supervision, and flexible pacing. Its purpose is to keep students moving toward graduation and personal goals in a setting different from the comprehensive high school. Dexter International Academy serves another audience, delivering online courses and certificates to students beyond the district’s local geography.

Career and technical study is expanded through the South and West Washtenaw Consortium. Students remain members of Dexter High while traveling or sharing time for specialized programs that would be difficult for one district to operate alone. Families therefore encounter a clear local school sequence with several distinct extensions: advanced and college-linked study, a small-group completion setting, regional technical programs, and an online academy with reach beyond Dexter.
